The Best Breakfasts in Newcastle

The Best Breakfasts in Newcastle

Over the past few weeks we have started going to the Grainger Market in Newcastle to get our fresh Fruits and Vegetables as well as our Meat and Fish. As part of our trips into town we are also having breakfast at one of Newcastle great Restaurants and Bistros. So far these are the best breakfasts we have had in Newcastle.

Côte Brasserie

This one Sam actually went to on her own when she went for brunch with some friends. Côte Brasserie is on Grainger Street just over the road from the Grainger Market.

Sam loves french toast and I make it for her sometimes at home but this one is next level. With Peach and Raspberry Compote, Fresh Berries, Creme Fraĭche and Maple Syrup.

You can't beat a Bacon Sarnie and a cuppa and Blake's Cafe on Grey Street are great at both. You can add extra fillings if you're in the mood so we had Bacon and Sausage.

If you're after something more substantial they also do a Full English as well as all the classic egg breakfasts.

Olive and Bean

I'm a big fan of eggs for breakfast so will ususally have some kind of egg dish. At Olive and Bean on Clayton Street they have a great twist on Egg Benedict.

Poached Eggs and Parma Ham on Sourdough Toast with Pesto instead of Hollandaise. Sam went for the Whipped Feta on Sourdough Toast, the addition on Pear, Walnuts and Honey really made this one extra special.

Flat Caps Coffee

This one has been my personal favourite, Shaksuka with Fried Ciabatta from Flat Caps Coffee on Carliol Square.

If you've never has Shakshuka I suggest you try it. Eggs baked with Peppers, Tomatoes and African Spices, The fried ciabatta is really great for mopping up all the sauce.

Sam went for the Homemade Crumpet as she had never seen this on a menu before and really wanted to try it.

The Homemade Raspberry Jam it comes with made this the best crumpet Sam has ever had.

I would say Smashed Avocado on Sourdough Toast with Poached Eggs is my favourite dish for brunch so obviously had to go for it.

Not everyone likes avocado but I just love the creaminess and when it's on sourdough toast with runny poached eggs it is perfect.

Although I was happy with my breakfast I was a little jealous when Sam's came. Dutch Baby Pancakes are large sweet yorkshire puddings filled with dessert.

Sam got the Peach Melba which is Grilled peaches, pink fondant icing, maple syrup, biscuit crumb, and vanilla ice cream.
