Please remember times and events can change (especially as the weather does). Always double-check event details before heading out.

Firework Displays in Newcastle

After last year's cancellations, I imagine fireworks events to be extremely popular and busy this year. If you fancy a ticketed event, I would recommend booking asap.

For the purpose of this post, these events take place with 5/6 miles of Newcastle City Centre. For a more comprehensive list of displays across the whole of North East England, please check out this Fireworks Guide over on North East Family Fun

Gino D'Acampo Newcastle Quayside | Menus & Review

This post first appeared on North East Family Fun in June 2021 and is based on a visit in June 2021.

Gino D'Acampo Newcastle Quayside | Menus & Review

Celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo has opened a restaurant on Newcastle Quayside. We popped along on a warm June evening to try it out and had a brilliant evening. What really stood out for us was the excellent quality of the food and the fantastic knowledgeable staff who knew their Italian food and the menu inside out. The views overlooking the quayside are absolutely perfect for people watching too.

Blackfriars Newcastle - Set Lunch Menu Review

Blackfriars in Newcastle is, in my opinion, one of the best value lunches in our city. I have visited a few times over the years and always leave feeling impressed and as if I have received good value for money. It is not somewhere for a cheap meal, but does provide excellent value. There's a difference.

Branzino Newburn Review – A New Place to Dine on The Tyne

Today we have a guest post from Jaclyn who enjoyed a BARGAIN meal at Branzino in Newburn this summer. Over to Jaclyn......

Earlier this year Branzino, a new Italian restaurant, opened on the banks of the Tyne in Newburn.

Branzino Newburn Review – A New Place to Dine on The Tyne

Located just off Newburn Bridge, it has taken over the premises of the former Boathouse Pub. This is an ideal venue for people who want to ‘dine on the Tyne’, but without the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

Owl Tree Cafe Newcastle | A Review

This post has been written by Jennifer Storey.

One of my favourite places to visit in Newcastle with my young children has got to be the Owl Tree Cafe in Red House Farm. The cafe is a community interest project, set up to help combat the issue of social isolation which many parents face.

Motel One Review | A Stylish, Budget Hotel in Central Newcastle

Motel One is a stylish hotel set on the cobbled streets of High Bridge, Newcastle. Opened in 2016, it's still a bit of a hidden gem I think.

Motel One Review | A Stylish, Budget Hotel in Central Newcastle

The location, price, staff and design are all fantastic and I would highly recommend considering Motel One if you are looking for a hotel which is affordable, stylish and central. Rooms are available from just £69.

Top Tips for Visiting Newcastle for Covid-Nervous Families

This post has been published by Martha Lane on July 6 2021.

It’s been a tough year (and then some) for everyone; parents across the globe have been balancing home life and careers, dealing with abrupt school closures, holidays have been cancelled (then rearranged and cancelled again), weddings disrupted, birthday parties ruined.

Not to mention batting away endless questions about when parks/soft play/museums/swimming pools/the arcade/the cinema are going to open. Now everything is opening back up again it feels strange (again). Those of us who had vulnerable family members in their bubble might be experiencing an extra level of anxiety now our worlds are growing larger again.

A trip to The Redhouse restaurant is always a warm and welcoming experience, even during the craziness that is COVID-19.

Sitting on Sandhill, just around the corner from the Swing Bridge and within a stone’s throw of the Quayside, The Redhouse is as traditional as it gets.
