As we move into Spring, I thought it might be nice to share 5 of my favourite outdoor spaces to enjoy in Newcastle. These spots are brilliant if you are craving fresh air and some of them are perfect if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

This post is based on a visit in 2020. Please check with venue direct for the most up to date menus and opening times.

I recently had 45 minutes to spare before a train journey at Newcastle Central Station and remembered a few people had recommended Destination 1850 so I decided to pop in and give it a try.

Located at the entrance to the train station (before you go through the ticket barriers) and open from 7am - midnight (food served 8am - 10pm), it is in a super convenient location if you are early for a train / meeting someone at the station.

A Mixed Bag at Chaophraya Newcastle

A Mixed Bag at Chaophraya Newcastle

This post has been written by Steve.

Thai food is one of mine and Sam's favourite, we often make a Thai curry for our tea at home and Sam makes a mean Green Thai Chicken Soup. We've been to Chaophraya in Eldon Square in Newcastle a few times but not as often as we would like.

Indoor Axe Throwing in Newcastle at Hatchet Harry's (Review)

Did you know,  you can throw axes in Newcastle City Centre? You will find Hatchet Harry's behind LIFE in the arches on Forth Bank. We parked at Times Square Car Park (postcode NE1 4AD)  at the cost of £2.50 for 90 minutes and it was a super easy 3 minute walk.

The Best Value Special Occasion Restaurant in Newcastle

I have dined at Peace & Loaf in Jesmond a couple of times now and I truly believe they deserve the title of best value fine dining in Newcastle.

Peace & Loaf Jesmond - the best value special occasion restaurant in newcastle upon tyne.

Yes, you could very easily spend a fortune here (we will order their tasting menu and wine flight *one day*) but equally, you can enjoy some of the best food in the North East along with a fantastic experience without breaking the bank.

Where to go for cheap (but nice) drinks near Monument

More often than not on a night out, Steve and I will find ourselves in the bars around Monument. They are quick and easy to get to, in a super central location and there are lots of bars to choose from so you don't have far to walk from bar to bar.

The prices and deals were checked and correct as of January 2020.

When we go out, we tend to have a babysitter at home so we can't stay out too late - we opt to head out early evening instead which is often when you will find the best deals.

Free Monthly Co Working at The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle

How do you feel about co-working? As someone who works from home and is now into my 5th year of freelancing full time, it is something I have dabbled with in the past but I have never really found it to be productive.

11 Fun Date Ideas in Newcastle Upon Tyne

Looking back at dating when Steve and I were younger and it was pretty boring really. It would always either be drinks in town or Whitley Bay or a pub lunch.

We definitely weren't the most adventurous!

Over the years though our tastes have changed and don't get me wrong, we still love drinks in town but we also love trying something new.

11 Fun Date Ideas in Newcastle Upon Tyne

Today I am sharing a few ideas for date nights or days in Newcastle. Let me know if you have any ideas to add to the list!

If you're looking for ideas which do not involve drinking or eating, see this post: 13 Date Ideas in Newcastle (which do not involve food or alcohol).
